Fall 2020

Dear Parents,

It’s already back to school, and who would have thought we would still be in the midst of this pandemic! First of all, we want to thank you so much for your continued support of our school. As most of you know, our family has grown by one recently. Congrats to Ms. Aimee, Kmilo and Laila on the birth of baby Gael Emilio. He was born on Aug. 3 and everyone is doing well.

We’ve been working to develop a fall schedule that prioritizes both the health of your family and the joy of making music together, oh, and with one less teacher for now.

Here’s the plan:

In-person classes will resume (starting Saturday, August 22nd) Classes will be capped at 5 students and keyboards will be distanced and disinfected before each class. Masks will be required during class.
Digital group classes will continue. We have set up our computers in each classroom so that our Zoom students can be part of our live in-person classes. We are hoping this will help the online classes feel more like in-person classes. All Zoom classes will also be recorded so you can makeup any missed classes, or just to practice a bit more!
Private lessons will continue according to the plan set up by each student and teacher. If you have questions, please contact your instructor.
Extra catch up private lessons will be available for students in group classes as needed.

As you know, singing is a pillar of our curriculum. It is disheartening that the joy of singing is diminished because of the way the virus spreads. However, we will be adding outdoor singing sessions into our classes. We have been authorized to use the patio at the end of the building where will be able to maintain our social distancing. We are planning on 20-25 minutes in each space and that will allow time for cleaning, disinfecting, hand washing etc.

Since Ms. Aimee has a newborn, she will be teaching online only. We have regrouped and combined classes so that all of our students have the opportunity to participate in an in-person or Zoom class. Ms. Noelle and Ms. Lois will be covering all of the classes for the first part of the semester. Ms. Aimee will be available for private lessons and special catch up lessons as needed.

I will send a separate email with your child’s class day/time. I will need a reply back if you are doing online or in-person. The in-person and Zoom classes will occur at this time every week. If you choose online, we will be giving you some guidelines so that the class experience at home is the best it can be. If you need a different scheduling option, please email me back and we will figure something out! We have had to move a lot of things around so that we are able to provide times for everyone.
